APMP

Qualifications frequently asked questions

APMP (IPMA Level D) is a knowledge based qualification. Successful candidates are able to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. APMP is a qualification recognised both nationally and internationally that successful candidates can carry from one job to another or from one industry to another.

APMP is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers who wish to demonstrate their knowledge of project management at a foundation level. APMP covers 37 knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge. Knowledge of these areas is considered fundamental to the professional management of projects.

What is assessed?
The APMP assessment involves one three hour written essay-based paper.

APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management, from strategic and commercial implications, to the technical, organisational, and people management skills required to participate effectively within a project team.

APMP Guidance Notes (127kb)

APMP Sample Paper (65kb)

The APMP self-assessment form can be found at the back of the APMP guidance notes, above.

This qualification allows candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management in order to assist in the management of projects. Candidates with this qualification will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact. They will also be able to understand how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.

To follow a course with a provider:
Refer to http://www.apm.org.uk/ProfessionalDevelopment.asp to see a list of the companies who are accredited to provide the APMP course and exam.

Please contact them directly to find out dates, prices and locations. If you follow a training course with an Accredited Provider an application form to register for the exam will be provided for you.

To sit the APMP on an Open Exam:
Prices, dates, locations, candidate guidance notes and sample questions can be downloaded above.

A place will be reserved for you only once we have received the completed qualifications application form and full payment. Payment can be made by cheque (payable to APM) or by credit/debit card.
